Celebrating National FroYo day!

Yesterday was February 6th. For those of you who didn't know, it was also national frozen yogurt day. Many FroYo chains and stores had amazing deals yesterday to celebrate this day. Menchies and Yogurtland had a buy one get one free deal going on!

I went to Menchies with a group of friends after school. We initially were going to go to Yogurtland, but all the Yogurtland locations were permanently closed. Luckily, we had a Menchies relatively close to our school (about 20 minutes). Menchies was having the BOGO deal and a double smiles deal. Smiles are like Menchies points that you earn by buying frozen yogurt. As you gather more points, you can get rewards like 5 dollars off your next cup. My friends and I took advantage of the deals and bought frozen yogurt. It was very yummy!

There were a modest variety of flavors to choose from. They had raspberry Hi-Chew, cake batter, cheesecake, Dole pineapple, chocolate, cookies and cream, pistachio, strawberry, and a couple others. I, personally, felt like there were not too many options. This cycle's line up of flavors was not my favorite. Here is my take on every flavor (not in any particular order):

  • Pistachio -

This flavor had a very vibrant neon green color. It was not a typical light green pistachio color. It was icy and more sorbet like than frozen yogurt consistency. The pistachio flavor came out a little bit upon first taste, but it vanishes pretty quickly and then it feels like you are just consuming ice.

  • Cake Batter

The cake batter flavor was pretty good. It was flavorful and tasted sweet. It was kind of like cake batter, but it also tasted similar to the cheesecake flavor. Perhaps that is why they put them side by side in the same machine. Overall it was good.

  • Cheesecake

This flavor was similar to the cake batter flavor, but the cheese came through. There was a slight cheesecake flavor that I could taste. Like the cake batter flavor, it was sweet, but not very distinctive.

  • Raspberry Hi-Chew

This flavor tasted fruity. My friends said that it had a very strong Hi-Chew flavor. I did not taste that, but that is probably because I only had a small taste of it. This flavor was not for me, but for people who like fruit will like it. In my opinion it is similar to their strawberry frozen yogurt.

  • Strawberry

On that note, here is my take on the strawberry flavor. I think it tastes like a basic strawberry ice cream. The consistency is like frozen yogurt. It is a safe flavor to choose.

  • Chocolate

Chocolate is another safe flavor. It is good for chocolate lovers. It has a rich taste and the chocolate is deep.

  • Cookies and cream

I actually like this flavor. I am not a big chocolate fan, but this flavor is good. This did not taste like an Oreo, however it was good. It was not chocolately either. To be honest, I don't really remember what it tasted like, but it was pretty good.

  • Dole Pineapple

I wanted to try this flavor, but unfortunately they ran out of it. I hear that it is good through.

Overall, the flavors in this line up were not the best, but it was still a fun treat! The toppings made up for it. I love toppings, and luckily they had a great variety to choose from! They had brownies, butterscotch bits, heath bar bits, cookie dough, cupcake bites, strawberry popping boba, blueberries, cherries, sour gummy worms, chocolate rocks, and many many more. I love getting Heath bar bits as a topping. Anything Heath bar flavored is my favorite! If you guys ever get a chance to try the Heath Baskin Robin ice cream or Heath blizzard from Dairy Queen, please give it a try. It is amazing. Funnily, I have not actually tried the Heath bar candy bar. I also got their fun liquid toppings like caramel and marshmallow cream.

Let me know what you think of the line up! Happy national frozen yogurt day!
