4/5: a convenient spot to get thai food near campus. big portions and good value. the food is also warming and comforting.

$$$$

👍 - get again ; 👎 - would not get again

Madam Mam's is a Thai restaurant with locations throughout Texas. I tried the UT Austin Campus location.

Menu Items I've Tried:

MAM'S WINGS ($10.00) 👍

5 pieces; Plain and Thai Devil

Plain: Slightly crispy, lightly battered, very light, juicy chicken

Thai Devil: A wet, saucy wing. Tastes "asian", definitely thai inspired. The sauce is like the red curry, coconut milk based, has the kaffir lime leaf flavor and thai basil notes. Not spicy more aromatic.

PAD SEA EW ($13.50) 👍

Flat noodles stir fried with egg, chinese broccoli, chicken and special mixed soy sauce

The pad sea ew is a light noodle dish that is slightly sweet and soy sauce based. There is a nice crunch from the vegetables. The noodles are bouncy and chewy.

SPECIAL PANANG BEEF CURRY ($19) 👍

Beef in thai red curry with jalapeno, basil, and kaffir lime leaves. Comes with rice

The curry is sweet, creamy, and coconut milk based. It is flavorful, rich, and slightly thick. Not too overpowering nor spicy. There are big chunks of beef that are pretty tender.

MANGO STICKY RICE ($8) 👍

Thai sticky rice with mango topped with coconut sauce

The rice is sticky and chewy with a slight sweetness. The coconut sauce adds a deeper, richer, sweet creaminess and the mangoes are very sweet, complimenting the plain rice well.

MASMAN CURRY ($14) 👍

Thai red curry with meat, onions, potatoes, etc. Comes with rice

The curry is sweet, creamy, and slightly spicy. It is flavorful and rich. This time the protein option we got was fried tofu. The fried tofu soaked up the curry well.

KEOW WAN CURRY ($14) 👍

Green curry with chicken, bamboo shoot, and thai basil. Comes with rice

This curry is lighter than the red curry. Not spicy at all. It is light, creamy, and flavorful. It is more savory, and not sweet like the red curry. They give lots of chicken which is nice. It's good and worth reordering, but I would definitely venture out for more items too because flavor fatigue.

SPICY PAD KEE MAO - DRUNKEN NOODLE ($13.50) 👍

Stir fried noodles with pork, mushroom, and thai basil.

I really enjjoyed this one. The noodles were round, spaghetti like noodles. The portion is huge. It came with pork, crunchy vegetables, and mushrooms. The sauce is sweet and spicy. So delicious! I love the spice and sweetness. It kind of reminds me of lo mein but better. I would get this one again. Again, though, flavor fatigue hits.
